For Hull FC legend David Topliss, there was no sporting
competition in the world to rival the Challenge Cup final.
Today, as the Airlie Birds were due to take on St Helens at
Wembley Stadium, his wife Daryl spoke of how much she missed her
"wonderful" husband.
Mr Topliss, who captained Hull FC to Challenge Cup success in
1982, collapsed and died during a football match in Crofton in
Wakefield, West Yorkshire, on June 16.
Mrs Topliss, 61, of Wakefield, said: "He was Mr Dependable and
was very good in a crisis.
"Nothing phased him and he was a terrific family man.
"I feel truly blessed to have had such a wonderful man in my
life. He had a lot of qualities that have rubbed off on me."
