Article: Woodminster Summer Musicals opens 42nd season

For some people, rainy days can spell ruined picnics, cancelled baseball games and waterlogged shoes, but for Harriet Schlader, managing director of Woodminster Summer Musicals, one rainy day in particular meant a couple thousand angry theatergoers staring her down.

"September 9, 1972," Schlader said, laughing. "It's indelible in my mind. It was the most traumatic thing. We had a big house and it started pouring and didn't stop. We had to cancel it, so we had a lot of people yelling."

The first and only rainout in the theater's history is still fresh in her memory with opening night for Woodminster's 42nd season right around the corner.
