CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) - The city of Cedar Rapids has hired a
Washington law firm to lobby for disaster-recovery efforts in
Congress.The Cedar Rapids City Council and Linn County Board of
Supervisors voted this month to pay Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal
LLP $10,000 per month to help the state's second-largest city get
federal money to rebuild and tax credits to create more affordable
housing.Cedar Rapids mayor Kay Halloran says the city will benefit
from someone who can cut through the red tape of federal disaster
aid, which she called "surprising" and "convoluted."The law firm
also will represent the town of Palo.Experts said the move to hire a
