NORTON - He is widely considered the best player in the world who
has never won a PGA Tour event.
Yesterday, 32-year-old Tim Clark moved a little bit closer to
making that label obsolete when he shot a 62 in the second round of
the Deutsche Bank Championship to take a one-shot lead at 14-under-
par 128.
Clark, a native of South Africa, was flirting with the golfer's
dream of shooting 59 on the par-71 course but was derailed by bogeys
on his final two holes (Nos. 8 and 9).
They were the only blemishes on a round that featured two eagles
(on Nos. 2 and 4) that tied a tournament record, and seven birdies.
He set a tournament record for a 36-hole score, besting Vijay
Singh's mark of 131 in 2004 ...
