They go by different names: wild boar, wild hog, feral pig, feral
swine, feral hog, Old World swine, razorback, Eurasian wild boar,
Russian wild boar. Wherever they live in the United States, though,
their name is spelled the same: TROUBLE.
The ancestry of feral swine is so mixed and interbreeding so
prevalent there is great variation in their appearance. Some look
like boars and others look like domestic swine; it is often
difficult to determine if swine are wild by appearance alone.
Feral swine should not be confused with the collared peccary, or
javelin, of the Southwest; they are not the same animal.
