Gordon Brown will today try to launch a comeback after his summer
of discontent with a package to ease the housing crisis.
The Prime Minister will outline plans to help first-time buyers
and protect families from having their homes repossessed as the
credit crunch bites.
The measures will include a new mortgage rescue scheme to help
vulnerable families at risk of repossession.
A new shared equity scheme will help first-time buyers get onto
the property ladder and there will be extra cash for councils and
housing associations to provide more homes.
The mortgage rescue scheme will not be available for people who
have acted recklessly, but instead offer eligible home owners
options to avoid ...
