The plight of dogs in the full-to-bursting Jerry Green dog rescue
centre near Broughton brought out the best in Scunthorpe Telegraph
readers, according to the organisation's chief executive, Desmond
Bergin.
He said there had been unprecedented interest in the dogs
available for rehoming from the public.
Last week we reported how the centre had introduced a waiting
list for the first time in its history.
In 40 years the staff had never been called on to take on so many
dogs their owners were unable to care for - many blaming the current
economic slowdown.
