?Controversial cancer drugs policy is wrong?

THE controversial policy of denying NHS services to patients who pay for cancer drugs privately needs reviewing, according to North- East cancer experts.

The North of England Cancer Network says better-off cancer patients should not be encouraged to supplement their treatment to give them access to expensive drugs unapproved on the NHS.

But it believes the rules should be changed so patients who pay for cancer drugs privately are not penalised by having all their NHS care withdrawn.
