Ulster Unionists have tabled an urgent Assembly motion urging all
parties including Sinn Fein to condemn dissident republican
violence, it emerged today.
The party believes Sinn Fein support for the motion would help
improve unionist confidence in the commitment of mainstream
republicans to the rule of law.
The UUP has asked the Assembly business committee to permit the
motion to go ahead so it can be debated when or soon after the
Assembly resumes on Monday, September 15.
The motion calls upon all parties in the Assembly to definitively
condemn the violence and unequivocally back the courts and the
Police Service.
