CELEBRATING WORKERS ANNUAL LABOR DAY CELEBRATION ROLLS THROUGH PETERSBURG, IND.

PETERSBURG, Ind. - After growing up around coal miners in Boonville, Ind., and then becoming one himself, Glenn Gowen appreciates the importance of labor.

So the 62-year-old Gowen makes a point each year of attending the Labor Day Association's annual celebration and parade. It's a chance for Gowen, who has since retired, to see old friends and to commemorate the importance of work.

"I truly believe that our country is what it is because of working people - not necessarily all union, but working people," he said. "They create the wealth of our country. We deserve the celebration; we deserve to have our day once a year."
