Homebuyers in Plymouth are set to benefit from the stamp duty
holiday announced as part of a government rescue package to breathe
life into the ailing housing market.
Latest Land Registry figures put the average house price in
Plymouth at pounds145,240, which means from yesterday they will be
exempted from the property tax after the raising of the threshold on
the starting rate to pounds175,000 from the current level of
pounds125,000.
The 12-month stamp duty freeze by the Treasury will save eligible
homebuyers up to pounds1,750 when they purchase a property, and
relates only to buildings entirely for residential use.
