Tropical storm Hanna kills at least 38 in Haiti, affects Dominica

HAVANA, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Tropical storm Hanna has killed at least 38people and left thousands homeless in Haiti and caused widespread flooding in the Dominican Republic, authorities said Wednesday.

According to reports reaching here, many houses were damaged by the flooding. The city of Gonaives, some 100 km north to the capital city, was flooded and declared in emergency state. The death toll reached 10 on Wednesday.

The flooding even blocked the entrance to Gonaives, where water in some areas was three meters deep.
