A former Exeter soldier has retraced a mountainous escape route
followed by airmen shot down over Europe during the Second World
War, to raise money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Raymond Milford, 63, walked across the Pyrenees from France to
Spain, following in the footsteps of hundreds of Allied airmen who
were shot down during the war and thousands of jews and others who
fled German-occupied France.
He trekked the 45-mile escape route, which has come to be known
as the Freedom Trail, to raise money for the RBL Poppy Appeal
initiative that helps the serving and ex-service community.
Mr Milford raised more than pounds1,000 for the legion from the
