The issue of the Rangiora airfield has again been raised - 10
years after it was buried under local opposition. ------------------

A report released this week on the potential for Rangiora's
airfield to become a busy aviation hub for the South Island had a
sense of deja vue about it.
And there it was - April 15, 1998, a story in The Press about a
Rangiora businessman's vision for the airfield.
It began: "Ian Andrews thinks Rangiora airfield has huge
potential.
"He sees it as the general aviation airfield for the greater
Christchurch and North Canterbury areas, another Wigram, and an
exciting challenge".
It was to become bogged down in local politics and fierce
opposition.
