Lagging supplies and increasing costs of road salt aren't just a
concern for municipal governments.
The problem can wreak havoc with maintenance budgets of
commercial property landlords.
That's people like Chuck DiLoreto, co-owner of PWC Property
Solutions, a property management company whose holdings include
Buildings Three, Five and Eight at the Parkway Center complex in
Green Tree.
"It's both a cost and a safety issue," said DiLoreto, whose
company has yet to lock up a supply of salt that normally runs to
300 tons a year.
The salt is needed for such entities as the Central Blood Bank of
Pittsburgh, which owns the Five Parkway Center building, he said.
