Article: Hankies out as hay fever takes hold

With warmer weather on its way, Nelson pharmacists are seeing people with itchy eyes and congested noses as a result of the pollen that is starting to leave its tell-tale yellow deposits outside.

Jodi Mardon, of Prices Pharmacy, said it was usual for people to get hay fever in September and she had noticed customers starting to stream in over the last two to three weeks.

Ms Mardon said those suffering from hay fever often had itchy, watery eyes and sneezes, with nasal congestion. They might also have an itchy roof of the mouth.
