Article: Villagers go to town in post office protest

Placard-waving protesters descended on Newton Abbot Post Office to demonstrate how difficult life will be if their own village postal service closes.

Around 75 Abbotskerswell residents jammed all the serving counters for 15 minutes in a bid to highlight potential problems if their village post office closes down.

They made the two and a half mile journey by bus, car, borrowed mobility scooters and on foot to queue at Cost Cutters in Queen Street, where the post office is located.

Protest organiser Liz Taylor hailed the move a 'success'.

"We were delighted with the turnout. There were about 75 people who made their way here by different methods."
