Hiking
Allegheny Group of the Sierra Club will lead an easy six-mile
hike through a new hiking area in Plum Borough Sept. 13. It takes in
one big hill and two great views. Call Ed Divers at 412-828-5154.
Laurel Ridge State park will host a 6.5-mile hike along the
Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, from the Route 653 parking lot to the
Grindle Ridge shelter area, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 20. Meet at
the Laurel Ridge State Park office and bring water and a lunch. Pre-
registration is required at least two days in advance by 814-352-
8649.
Backpacking
Venture Outdoors and Friends of Allegheny Wilderness will lead a
backpacking trip through the proposed Tracy Ridge Wilderness Area
