For the past two decades, Dan and Nancy Mitchell of Evansville
have been making jelly late every summer using the jalapeno peppers
that Dan grows in his East Side garden.
Dan grows a lot of jalapenos, and the couple make dozens upon
dozens of jars of jelly every year.
Dan also grows horseradish, which he grinds and preserves in
vinegar, and he makes herbal vinegar from the rosemary and garlic in
his garden.
The couple are currently delivering this year's supply of jelly
and vinegar to various Old National Bank branches (among other
select venues), where the jars and bottles are offered to the public
for $5 apiece.
The horseradish roots aren't harvested until after a hard frost,
