Article: Drinkers under fire for making area look bad

Businesses and residents have united in condemning the impact of street drinking on the city centre.

The Federation of Bath Residents' Associations - which speaks for thousands of members of local groups - says the problem is a "key issue".

Vice-chair Nigel Websper said: "People are very concerned about the threat or fear of harm much more than the actuality of it.

"There are a huge number of people, often with dogs, drinking in the centre of town and the park.

"I have never been anywhere in the world that has the same problems we do here. For a World Heritage centre it is awful."
