Arnold Moshier broke barriers during the 1960s in the unlikeliest of places.

Moshier sparked a dramatic change in Mennonite worship services here when his choral group, the Choraleers, started using instruments to accompany singing at church services.

"The church was ready for a change," Moshier said. "People were ready to have music [as] a part of the church worship service."

The Choraleers was an unofficial gospel singing group largely made up of Lancaster Mennonite school students and alumni.
