Arnold Moshier broke barriers during the 1960s in the unlikeliest
of places.
Moshier sparked a dramatic change in Mennonite worship services
here when his choral group, the Choraleers, started using
instruments to accompany singing at church services.
"The church was ready for a change," Moshier said. "People were
ready to have music [as] a part of the church worship service."
The Choraleers was an unofficial gospel singing group largely
made up of Lancaster Mennonite school students and alumni.
Moshier was hired by LMS as its first full-time music instructor
in 1959. He formed the Choraleers as an unofficial choir group
