Article: Artist's vasectomy inspires his new multimedia exhibit

San Francisco-based artist Jordan Essoe doesn't want his new
show, "Strictfathermodel," to be a vehicle in which he advocates
having others undergo a vasectomy, as he did in early August.
Instead, the 29-year-old is presenting a graphic multimedia
exhibition -- at 21 Grand in Oakland, starting today -- that is
descriptive about his decision never to have children.
Essoe explored a variety of parenthood models -- including the
George Lakoff-described strict father model and the nurturing family
model -- before making the decision to undergo the 10-minute
surgery.
"I felt like withdrawing (from parenthood) was the strict father
model," he says. "I felt like I was punishing my unborn children ...
