They have been a staple of many meals. A fluffy white mound of
mashed potatoes, often topped with a pat of butter or smothered in
brown or white gravy.
Actor Richard Dreyfuss even created a replica of Devil's Tower
with them in a classic scene from "Close Encounters of the Third
Kind."
But you needn't sculpt a Wyoming landmark in order to give your
mashed potatoes a little extra zip. By adding different ingredients,
you can up the attitude of your mashed potatoes. Think of it as
taking a side dish and elevating it to a supper star.
