Article: Councilman's city contract raises favoritism questions

CHEYENNE - The city of Cheyenne paid Councilman Jim Brown's company more than double the contract amount in fiscal year 2008 because of additional work.

Brown, who is running for re-election in Ward 3, is the co-owner of Ameri-Tech HVAC Services, a local company. It is in the second year of a two-year contract at $62,250 a year to maintain and monitor the mechanical and HVAC systems in 13 city buildings.

Ameri-Tech has held several contracts with the city since 1994. Brown was elected to a two-year term in 2006.
