Cincinnati -- It had been a long time since one of the Milwaukee Brewers uttered those words.

"Today was a good day," said right-hander Seth McClung.

Good days have been few and far between for the Brewers, who won for only the fifth time in 20 games this month Sunday when the offense came to life in an 8-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

The triumph allowed the Brewers to end an otherwise dreadful 2-8 trip on an up note. Combined with the New York Mets' 7-6 loss in Atlanta, the Brewers finally had a positive day on the wild-card front, climbing within 1 1/2 games of the leaders.
