Article: Around Pleasanton: Teens help students fighting depression/suicidal thoughts

SEEKING TO RAISE AWARENESS of suicide and depression among teens, Foothill High School students Arianna Chopelas and Haley Laine will participate in the "Out of the Darkness Community Walk" in San Francisco on Saturday.

They are part of the Health and Bioscience Academy at Foothill and first became involved with the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention last year, because of personal experiences with friends and loved ones.

"In the middle of our sophomore year, our teacher told us about (the foundation)," Haley said. "Since we had a friend who attempted suicide, we thought it would be a cool thing if we could share our stories and give back."
