MADISON, Wis. - The third time was the charm for Bo Ryan.
After being passed over for Stu Jackson in 1992 and seeing Dick
Bennett get the job in 1995, Ryan was hired as the head men's
basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin. The announcement
was made Thursday morning at the Nicholas-Johnson Pavilion.
The former University of Wisconsin-Platteville coach replaced
acting head coach Brad Soderberg, 38, who found out on March 19 he
would not be retained.
Ryan nearly was passed over again, until Wisconsin native and
current Utah head coach Rick Majerus turned down the job on Monday.
