Article: Not earthshaking; Parking-ramp construction: Main Street businesses don't feel buildings shake

There was no further damage reported to four Main Street buildings Monday after construction resumed on the Fourth Street parking ramp.

A huge drill turned the soil and crews injected a number of concrete piles into the ground on the site of the parking ramp construction project. Meanwhile, engineering consultants took seismographic readings to track earth movement in the area.

Rich Russell, building-services manager for the city, said there was no movement recorded and no shaking reported at any of the Main Street buildings.

"It seems to be going fairly well, so far," he said. The construction is expected to be completed by Thursday.
