MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) - Mike Mogard drove in three runs as
Marshalltown defeated defending champion Urbandale 3-1 in the
semifinals of the Class 4A state baseball tournament Friday at
Marshalltown.
Mogard had RBI singles the third, fifth and seventh innings. His
single in the fifth off relief pitcher Brett Kinning broke a 1-1
tie.
Chris Beall and Jeff Clement combined to limit the J-Hawks to one
run off five hits. Beall (7-2) went the first four innings and gave
up a solo home run to Urbandale's Kinning in the second. Clement
pitched the final three innings and picked up his 11th save of the
season.
At the plate, Clement doubled and was walked three times.
