Farmers have much more on their minds than the fall harvest,
according to the Dubuque County Farm Bureau.
Education funding, biotechnology, energy, the next federal farm
bill and market access are pressing issues for farmers, an annual
survey found.
Every year, county Farm Bureau organizations around Iowa survey
their members on issues. The annual rite is more than a casual
inquiry - each county organization uses the results to form its
policy stance for the upcoming year.
The Dubuque County Farm Bureau members met in September to
formalize this year's county policy.
"It's a grassroots organization," said Gary Lahr, Dubuque County
