* It's that time of year again when allergy victims reach for the
hankies, antihistamines and nasal sprays. JANE BOWRON reports

HAVE you noticed a plethora of people looking red and puffy
around
the eyes lately? No, it's not another virus, nor is it the start of
Christmas party hangovers. It's probably just hayfever or an
allergy.
About a million New Zealanders suffer summers of stuffed noses,
troublesome eyes and constant coughing.
So, what can they do? Picnics in long grass are definitely out,
as are holidays in areas such as Wairarapa or Hawke's Bay because
the
winds roaring over the grasslands will blow pollen straight into
sensitive facial areas.
