Article: Mental illness not shrinking

TEN years ago New Zealanders were told that one in 10 people would suffer from a mental illness sometime in their life. Two years ago it was one in five, and this year it is now one in four who will be afflicted.

At this rate, by the year 2010 statistics will show that all people in New Zealand will suffer from a mental illness and psychiatrists will be right there demanding more money, saying they are under-funded and under-manned.
