Suicide are one of those bands that people involved in the music
business love to quote as an influence, knowing that most people will
probably never have heard so much as a note. Their reputation is as
the epitome of Seventies New York arty cool, riotous shows, a kind of
deadlier, electronic version of the Velvet Underground. But they made
little impact on the commercial pop world and, therefore, it's
genuine curiosity that leads quite so many to be queuing round the
block on a Monday night to see synthpop's funny uncles return to the
fray.
