Article: NZ composer triumphs in US

``Eastman Overture'' by New Zealand composer Christopher Marshall received a triumphant premiere performance last week at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, New York.

Marshall describes the overture as exuberant and full of good tunes. Written to celebrate the Eastman School's 75th anniversary, it incorporates historic melodies from the city of Rochester. For Marshall, this performance will mark a climax in what has been an exciting year spent in Rochester. He arrived in the United States in August 1996, the recipient of a Fulbright research grant.
