More white clover seed producers need to lift their yields to the
milestone 1000kg a hectare, or risk losing a dominant share of the
world export market, an Ashburton seed company says.
Midlands Seed has launched a programme called White Clover 1000.
Its aim with the scheme is to lift yields and ensure New Zealand was
not ``knocked out of the market'', said director Chris Green.
The programme, to enable more growers to produce seed yields of
1000kg a hectare, was to meet an expected increased demand for seed.
Farmers were encouraged to join White Clover 1000 as part of a
Midlands Seed big white clover seed export push into Europe.
