ASHBURTON -- An anonymous gift of $25,000 ensured the plan to
establish hospice facilities at Ashburton Hospital went ahead,
general manager Garth Bateup said yesterday.
The plan was announced early this month. Mr Bateup said then that
$75,000 was already in trust accounts and the job would not start
until the other $25,000 was found.
The hospital aimed to improve part of Ward One which it used in
caring for dying patients.
Facilities for those people had been of concern for several years
and a decision was made to alter three single rooms in Ward One to
provide ensuite facilities, a ...
