Gunyah Country Lodge, a fine old Canterbury homestead an hour's
drive from Christchurch, hopes to lure more city dwellers to sample a
relaxing winter weekend in the country.
David and Catherine Latter have owned the lodge for two years.
The extensive grounds, and the interior, have recently been
refurbished with en suite bathrooms added to five bedrooms upstairs.
The lodge is nestled in the foothills at Glenroy, behind Hororata.
It was built early this century for the Hall family of Canterbury
pioneers and was designed on a grand scale by architects Clarkson and
Ballantyne.
