WHY GO NOW?
At last, a no-frills airline is offering cheap flights to Alsace,
making this wine-growing corner of north-east France more accessible
to UK visitors. Strasbourg is its attractive canal-lined capital,
where French savoir- vivre flourishes alongside traditional Germanic
architecture and a broader European flavour. Autumn colours are very
much in evidence in the city - and the Christmas markets open in
November.

Stansted to Strasbourg next Thursday, with fares of pounds 45 return
