WHAT sets the champion Tie The Knot apart from his rivals?
The obvious answer would be class and ability.
Admiring trainer Guy Walter agrees with that assessment but
declared "mental attitude" was the key factor.
The mighty chestnut gelding yesterday became Australia's greatest
ever stakes earner when he scored a decisive win in the $350,000
Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill.
It was Tie The Knot's 12th success at racing's highest level -
Group One - and took his earnings to close to $6 million.
Tie The Knot, with Patrick Payne in the saddle, defeated Kiwi
mares Hill Of Grace and Giovana to make it back-to-back wins in the
Ranvet.
