AUCKLAND is a melting pot for not only Pacific Island cuisine but
for flavours from as far as Italy.
Peta Mathias lives in Auckland and knows only too well the
cosmopolitan cuisine available; from traditional Italian breads by
Pandoro Panetteria to olives from Delmaine: Valrhona Chocolates from
Sabato and exotic mushrooms from a specialty store in suburban Mt
Albert.
When Enzo Bettio came to New Zealand 20 years ago he was dismayed
to find we ate spaghetti out of cans. Swiss-born Enzo began his
business Delmaine principally to get his hands on the food he loves -
capers, artichokes and olive oil.
His family moved from Italy to Switzerland in the 1880s during a
