IT'S more than 30 years since the Killing of Sister George created
a stir with its candid presentation of the breakdown of a lesbian
relationship. I can remember vividly the impact of the 1968 film
version which featured a wonderfully powerful performance by Beryl
Reid as the radio soap opera star whose character, Sister George, is
written out of the series in an attempt to boost ratings.
I left the cinema numbed -- my partner didn't want to talk about
it.
So how would Sister George stand the test of time?
