Article: Wool Board plans to split functions

The Wool Board says it is looking at spinning off its market development and research into ``commercially focused business units''.

The move -- announced by board chairman Bruce Munro -- would leave the board with just funding and a few other functions under the present structure, which has statutory backing. ``We will be a very different-looking organisation in the future,'' Mr Munro said.

The move is in line with reported demands from within Cabinet for a speed-up of producer board reform to make New Zealand look good when it goes into international trade negotiations.
