NAPIER -- An ``extremely suicidal'' young person was told ``if
you
want to take your life, it's your choice, your body'' and was sent
home, Napier minister Bev Bailey says.
Rev Bailey said she had been in close contact with a patient who
was talking about taking an overdose and was referred to HealthCare
Hawkes Bay psychiatric unit in Hastings by a GP.
The young person, whose name is not being released for privacy
reasons but is in the early 20s age bracket, was told by a
psychiatrist it was their choice if they wanted to take their own
life, and sent home, Rev Bailey said.
