The fast-emerging digital printing sector came of age at this
year's Pride In Print Awards in Christchurch, when John Hughes
accepted the Supreme Award for a Chinese Exhibition poster he
printed
for the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.
The Dunedin firm, Hughes Lithographics Ltd, has been a
successful
Pride In Print entrant since the awards began, but not with digital
printing. In those days, digital printing was being developed by
Hughes in association with Xerox New Zealand.
It was Hughes Lithographics' traditional bread-and-butter
business
of film, proofs, and plates that won a gold medal and a highly
commended in the inaugural 1993 Pride In Print. They picked up
