Used widely in Roman times, mosaics are adding style to New
Zealand homes. Vetricolour glass mosaics from Bisazza Mosaico, of
Italy, combine ancient and modern techniques.
The mosaics preserve ancient designs while using the latest
techniques such as the use of graphic computers for scanning
patterns.
The technology used in their manufacture also means the tiles are
square and smooth-surfaced, with smooth edges and uniform colours,
but the tradition of craftsmanship has not been lost.
