Sir--Your correspondents Denise Lorgelly and David Ellison
(December 30) both express concern that the new sculpture of the
Risen Christ was described by the artist Terry Stringer as "not
meant to be Him".
Unlike the artists who sculpted the statue of Godley and other
historic figures, Stringer, nor any of us has any visual record of
what Jesus Christ looked like. The Risen Christ sculpture, for this
reason, is a work of art, not a statue.
