Good interest was shown in most classes of wool at this week's
Christchurch wool sale.
Fine merino fleeces prices continue to climb after the early
season collapse. The 15 to 17 micron fleeces were up about 10 per
cent on last week.
Crossbred fleece was in good demand, especially for the good
colour wools. Similarly, halfbred wools had good competition, but
the quality was below par.
The drought effects are becoming obvious, and agents say growers
would be well advised to prepare their wools well, removing clotted
portions from the fleece, and removing tender wool from the finer
clips.
