Article: Changes proposed for busy Colombo Street

Traffic congestion on Colombo Street has caused complaints from bus operators and the public, a new city council report says.

People have complained about the variability of bus times, deteriorating air quality, and lack of space for pedestrians in the section of Colombo Street between Moorhouse Avenue and Cathedral Square, the report says.

It sets out a recommended approach to tackling the problem. The report says steps are needed to "provide an appropriate environment for the premier strip shopping street in the South Island".
