the Canterbury District Law Society.
The winds of change are stirring in New Zealand's law profession.
The Canterbury District Law Society is relinquishing its somewhat
arcane and patriarchal image. This year, for the first time in its
132 years, it will be presided over by a woman. It is reflecting a
growing trend throughout New Zealand. Auckland and Wellington's
district law societies both have female presidents this year. So too
does the New Zealand Law Society.
Canterbury's first woman president -- Isabel Mitchell -- is
