THE number of children suffering from asthma has more than doubled in the past 20 years.

Experts admit that they dont fully understand the reasons, but there are several theories.

"We dont think there is one single cause of asthma, so there are likely to be a number of potential reasons for the rise," says Jason Harding, spokesman for the National Asthma Campaign. "These could be things like the change in our (House dust mites are the trigger) indoor environment over the past 20 or 30 years. Homes are a lot warmer now and there is more humidity.
